We have revamped our "Restaurants Reviews" page to help with Search Engine Optimisation and harmonising the look of these pages with the rest of the site. We have also removed temporarily reviews of restaurants that have recently closed like Tastevin but kept the one for Guillaume at Bennelong which is now reopened in Paddington as Guillaume, which we have not had a chance to try yet. Each review has its own page, so it is easier for you and Google to find them.
We currently have only three reviews:
Biota Dining - Bowral - Southern Highlands of New South Wales
Guillaume at Bennelong
You will find mention of other restaurants we have had the privilege to dine at over the course of my gastronome life. You can use our "Search" function to find a short description of our culinary encounters. Over time, we will endeavour to blow up these snippets to a full blown review.
Your feedback will be most appreciated
The wait is over! Guillaume Brahimi's new restaurant in Paddington is opening this week. Here is a sneak peak into his new "Guillaume", courtesy of the Australian Gourmet Traveller. Can't wait to go!
It has been called "The icon within an icon". Not bad for a French chef who started his apprenticeship at a small restaurant in St Germain called "Aux Charpentiers" whose sister fish restaurant "L'Ecaille de PCB" was one of my "canteens" when living in Paris. PCB stands for Pierre and Colette Bardeche, the owners.
I never had steaks and fish cooked with such perfection anywhere else at the time.
BTW, Pierre et Colette still run Aux Charpentiers...
Mind you, Guillaume Brahimi went from there to La Tour d'Argent and Joel Robuchon: one could find worse training grounds... And it shows!
See below some of the goodies we enjoyed from the Degustation Menu. We were so enthralled by the celebrations and the food that we missed photographing some of the dishes...
Amuse bouche: an inventive way to prepare one tiny Sydney rock oyster...
Les Hautes Cances Cairanne 2011 for all the fishy courses...
Yellowfin Tuna, basil infused, soy and mustard seed vinaigrette
Royale of Globe Artichoke, mud crab, barigoule vinaigrette
Scallops, lemon emulsion, watercress veloute, sterling caviar
John Dory (Filet de St Pierre), carrot & ginger puree, coriander, pommes allumettes
Are you still hungry?
