Food, wine and...turntables in good company!
written for you by a Frenchman living in Sydney

Friends, music, food and wine can all be shared together and be either the background or the facilitors of good conversation.

Human beings are designed to connect with each other, and it is certainly my favourite passtime!

Over the years, I have been lucky to be able to experience friendship with people in many different countries, and more often that not, these friendship were cemented around the table sharing local cuisine or exchanging tips about and names of places where one could find the best recipe for a ceviche of scallops or a Moroccan tajine, chase a particular wine to match or find that famous but still elusive shop that sells Iranian basmati rice.

I am blessed to have a mother who is an excellent cook and a father who has always spared some hard earned cash to take us to some of the most famous restaurants in France and abroad. And they are still alive as they prepare to enter their 90s! - well, just a note here to say that Dad passed away on the 4th of Novemver 2010, just a few weeks short of his 89th birthday, and Mum is firmly in her 90s now...
My earliest memory of such a treat was lunch at Barrier in Tours, and the most recent was La Feniere in Lourmarin. And I have spent an inordinate amount of time as a kid watching Mum creating her wonders.

My wife of almost 25 years is very supportive of my passion for food, as she enjoys sharing my creations with our grown-up children.

You will find throughout this site information on, stories about and links to my favourite recipes, wines, restaurants, shops all around the World, but primarily in France, Belgium, Switzerland, countries that have been my playground until I relocated to Australia in 1997, and now obviously in Australia and New Zealand where I spend most of my time now.

I have another passion which is HiFi, and designing speakers and turntables, so you will find some information of this topic too, now relocated to our dedicated blog: www.frenchvintagehifi.com

This site is a work in progress, so keep coming back for more...

If you want me to feature YOUR favourite French experience and share with us this "je ne sais quoi" which opens so many doors, then fill the form on our contact page or post a comment on our blog and we will be in touch shortly.

                        Enjoy!
